What is the difference between cotton denim and denim?

(a) Cotton denim is a colour fabric with cotton yarn as the main raw material. The weft yarn can also be covered with cotton spandex to increase the weft elasticity of the fabric. The colours are mainly extra black, black navy, navy and navy blue. In the early days cotton denim was mainly in plain twill. With the development of warp-dyeing technology, the production efficiency of denim rapidly increased. The introduction of the jacquard loom and the extensive use of bamboo and spandex covered yarns greatly enriched the range of colours available in cotton denim. The warp yarn of cotton/polyester imitation denim is cotton and the weft yarn is polyester or polyester spandex covered yarn.
(b) Most of the imitation denim is dyed with intermittent ropes, also with warp yarns, and the number of colours is much richer than in cotton denim. Intermittent rope dyeing maximises the stiff feel of denim and improves the accuracy, vibrancy and uniformity of the colours. Dyeing cotton at room temperature ensures even shrinkage of the weft polyester spandex covered yarn, maximising the weft stretch of the imitation denim. By using bamboo yarns and jacquard looms, the imitation denim is fully capable of achieving the number of colours of cotton denim.
By adjusting the dyeing and finishing process, it is possible to develop a greater number of imitation denim fabrics that are popular with the majority of consumers. From the fabric structure and raw materials to the density, there is not much difference between the two types of fabric. However, due to the different processing processes, the finished style of the two products is more different.
(c) cotton denim fabric colour light pure, heavy texture, traditional style is obvious, suitable for denim garment processing of a variety of processes. Of course, the disadvantages are also obvious: the feel is stiff, the weft stretch is not obvious after adding spandex, the number of colours is not large, it is not suitable for small batch production, it is not suitable for giving more characteristics to the fabric through the finishing method, etc.
By adjusting the thickness of the raw material and the density of the machine, and by changing the dyeing method, cotton/polyester imitation denim can reach the level of colourful denim in terms of colour, style and texture. At the same time, cotton/polyester imitation denim can overcome the above-mentioned shortcomings of cotton denim by adjusting the processing flow and process conditions during the dyeing and finishing process.
